Molly and Adam Tie the Knot!

Molly and Adam became husband and wife in May of 2015! Molly had a stunning peach bouquet. We loved the combination of flowers Molly chose for her bridal bouquet. She had roses, tulips, stock, and pops of green belles of Ireland. The couple’s table centerpieces were a great focal point of hydrangeas with roses, tulips, and stock with the detail of a stack of books at the reception tables. This couple was a pleasure to work with and a delight to see their wedding take shape from start to finish.

Staci and Jeff said “I do” in April of 2015 at the beautiful Crown Plaza. We loved the great details used in this wedding! Staci used accents of succulents in her bouquet and on her wedding cakes. The use of tinted blue glass ware was a great way to incorporate a pop of color to the each table at the reception! This spring wedding incorporated baby’s breath, roses, and tulips in trios as the table centerpieces. It was a please to work with this couple and see this wedding come together.

Staff Picks: Summer Flowers!

Summer weddings mean gorgeous outdoor green lawn ceremonies, breezy bridesmaid dresses, vibrant sunsets, infused lemonade cocktails, and a herd of groomsmen sweating profusely in tuxes. (Remember to be kind, ladies- and to keep them happy during those warm formal shots, we suggest readily-available bottled water as well as a nice adult beverage when they’re done!)

Our picks for warm-weather blooms include:

Hydrangeas– suggested by Esther, who says, “I personally love the bright purple and pink hydrangeas and especially love the large green with what almost seems like splatters of vibrant fuschia. It’s color is quite the eye catcher and is a great compliment to other blooms,”- though we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that hydrangeas really love water, and during warm months, are best used in centerpieces and other non-bouquet arrangements for best results!

Sarah W also loves hydrangeas, but picked Marissa and David’s wedding as one of her favorite summer weddings, saying it “had a rustic feel, but at the same time was elegant.  The neutral colors of the hydrangeas, white peonies and light-pink roses were  beautifully contrasted with vibrant pink peonies.  The Succulents and Craspedia also brought a unique vibe to the flowers at this wedding.”

Hypericum Berries- available in a variety of colors and loved by several folks on our staff- check them out here in green!

Dahlias start coming into bloom mid-summer and Esther loves the size and layering of small to large petals, pictured here!

Sarah H likes Gerber Daisies because “I love all the different colors that they come in and that they’re big. I especially love the bright and happy colors that bloom in the summer!”

Sara and Doug Tie the Knot!

Sara and Doug became husband and wife in October of 2014. We absolutely loved the gorgeous purple dahlias that were used in Sara’s bridesmaid’s bouquets! Sara had a stunning all white bouquet of hydrangeas with roses and beautiful casablanca lilies. At the reception, the tables centerpieces alternated between submerged orchids, orange calla lilies, and purple delphiniums. The cake also had a slight waterfall of varying colored roses accenting the white frosting!

Staff Picks: All Time Favorites

Flowers are like families- there are lots of different types. Some are full of vibrant gorgeousness, some are a little less showy. Some are solid and stable and others wave in the wind. Some are soft and some can be a little bit prickly if you don’t know how to handle them- but put together, they usually create something pretty beautiful. For us, these flowers are beers with the guys out in the garage, playing euchre with your cousins*, and chatty late nights with the girls- the favorite moments that make families awesome. Not surprisingly, several of our favorite flowers come from family memories, too!

Sarah H loves hydrangeas because “they remind me of summer on Cape Cod at my grandparent’s house.”

Esther’s favorite? Sunflowers! “Growing up, my mother was an avid gardener and she used to plant giant sunflowers in our front yard. Ever since then I have loved their vibrant color and bold look.”

Unsuprisingly, I (Becky) had the most trouble with picking a favorite as there are so many great flowers associated with some of my favorite memories. Tall beach grasses on Captiva Island where I got married, and why my bouquets and our boutonnieres had twists of grass in them. Tulips, because we’ve had bulbs in the spring at most of the houses I’ve lived in- including my own now, though my squirrels are challenging that this year. Esperance roses, because I love how vibrant and full they are, and the mix of pink and creme colors. I guess you can say I love every flower a little bit in its own way- except white akito roses. I know there are folks out there who swear by them, but to this day, I think they bruise the quickest, are the least showy, and have the worst thorns. But that’s just me!

*Let’s be clear: I’m not actually allowed to play euchre, I’m just allowed to sit at the table and pretend I know what’s going on when they start throwing bowers.
